Orana Wildlife Park

Spent three hours visiting the Orana Wildlife Park, about 15 minutes form the Airport. This is a large facility with a loop trail for walking or using an on/off tram (we walked) and were able to see all exhibits and have lunch in 3-hours. Would have taken longer if we attended all feedings/demonstrations. We saw the kiwi demonstration and had good views of these fascinating unique birds. Love seeing the tuatara in a large open aviary (other tuataras in smaller enclosures). Orana now has NZ's only gorillas (three males) and will soon have orangs, both in new exhibits. The photo above is of a unique experience with feeding of lions. Guest pay $30 for the added value opportunity. After the Park, our pre-arranged shuttle took us to the Botanical Garden where there was a late afternoon jazz concert. Looked like there were about 1000 people on the lawn enjoying the music.
