Bike Tour Continues

After a hardy breakfast at the Old Glenmark Vicarage, we left at 9 AM sharp. We drove about 10 Km from Waipara to Scargill where we mounted our bikes. Another great day on our bike tour, but very windy and when the winds were in our face 50 Km/hour and we were going up hill we only did about 7 km/hour. After the "ride form hell" we had a lunch and then rode up the road and biked again, only this time it was easy riding. Arrived in the tourist town of Hanmer Springs around 4 PM (famous for its thermal pools). We took hot showers. After a short tour of the town (beautiful outdoor clothing store - could have bought a new wardrobe, but no room in luggage), we joined our group at 6 PM and went to a local pub that also had great wines. Next door we had dinner - steak for me and salmon for Sarah. Back to our lodge - very tired. Did not get much sleep last night as I had a technology issue and took a couple of hours with Apple Chat to repair. Probably won't be the last time. Our bike group now are all friends - one token Kiwi, one Scot, one from London area, 5 from Australia and us two from the USA. Plus our two NZ guides, one of which drives and the other brings up the rear on a bike. No internet tomorrow - on a sheep farm.
