We made it to chaotic Thailand on Tuesday night, February 7 after a 9 hour flight from Melbourne. The airport experience was calm and customs was easy. A taxi ride to hotel cost only about $10. The next day the adventure began. After a little craziness on the streets, including a tuk tuk ride, we booked a tour of The Grand Palace in the afternoon. The tour itself was about 1 and 1/2 hours, but took us another 1 and 1/2 hours both getting there and getting back. We were in the worst traffic we had ever seen. Also, it was very hot - in the nineties. Back at the hotel we were directed to a great Thai restaurant were we spent $4.30 on food and $37 on a bottle of wine! We are now off to a beach resort for two days.
