What's Cooking
On Saturday, February 11, we attended Amita Thai Cooking Class. We were picked up at our hotel at 8:30 AM and drove 30-minutes to the Chao Phraya River where six of us caught a boat. We went up the River and into a small channel through a lock (dropping four feet in the lock). We arrived at a small complex of houses where Tam Piyawadi does her cooking classes six days a week. After introductions, Tam showed us her herb garden and explained how she uses each herb in her cooking. In a very modern "teaching kitchen" she prepared four dishes which we tasted. Then, the fun began as we each made the dishes ourselves with ample supervision by Tam and her staff. It was an incredible lunch. Before we left, we were given the recipes to try at home.
