Singapore - Day/Night

Sunday morning we met AJ Penny at the entrance to the SEA Aquarium and Dolphin Island on Sentosa Island for a tour of these two AZA member (and WAZA member) facilities. We had a grand tour and a great time talking with AJ about the Aquarium and the dolphins, but also about life in Singapore. For instance, if you are not married you have to live with your parents until 35 years old when you are then eligible for an apartment. The large diverse collection and the clarity of the water in the Aquarium was outstanding. In the evening we went to the Night Safari. This outstanding Zoo (part of the Singapore Zoo complex) is a truly unique experience. While it's dark (open until midnight), we saw 90% of all the animals (better than we see in many "diurnal zoos"). The photo above of Malaysian tapirs was taken from the tram, but guests can also walk through a good portion of the Zoo and see some of the same exhibits and also some exhibits for smaller nocturnal animals. As of today, I have seen all but nine AZA Accredited facilities.
