Mumbai

We arrived in Mumbai on the evening of March 10 and had dinner in the hotel. Mumbai, formerly named Bombay - "beautiful bay" by the Portuguese, is the second largest city in India. We needed to relax after our six nights on safari so we only scheduled an afternoon City tour on the 11th. We were able to view the famous Dhobi Gaht, a huge outdoor laundry that everyone uses as it's so inexpensive. We also visited a historic house were Gandhi had a room when he stayed in Mumbai. It is now a Museum. We left our hotel at 1:30 AM on March 12 for our flight to the Seychelles. When we went to the airport in the early AM we noticed there were thousands of people on the street surrounding the Bay. Mumbai is a city that never sleeps.
